Presidium strongly believes that rather than making the children memorize the facts, they should be made to think and understand things and the world around them on practical basis. Students of Grade 4 and 5 were given an opportunity to learn basic Mathematical concept using Dienes Blocks which are manipulative tools to make understanding the concept better. They also used Tangrams which is an ancient Chinese art which is a reverse jigsaw puzzle. The idea is to dissemble the pieces and rearrange them in such a way as to create the desired image. We believe that tangram patterns can hold a wealth of opportunities for original and practical learning. Children also enhanced their concept of fractions by moving the fraction strips onto the canvas; they could see the differences between various denominators and integrated the concept of equivalent fractions.
